Paul Blanca (Amsterdam, 1958)
Paul Blanca is a Dutch artist best known for his controversial and violent photographs. He lived and worked in Spain for two years (in the early 90's) and was obsessed with bullfighting. He was intrigued that when the bullfight was over, the bull's meat was served in restaurants, but nothing was done with the blood. Paul Blanca investigated whether the blood could be used as screen printing ink.
By pushing the ink through the sieve several times, Blanca achieved the visible colors in his works.
