In-young Kim

In-young Kim's work is based on the premise that recognition and expression of reality must be represented in an abstract form. For that reason, she creates the required image by simply choosing colors and shapes instead of observing the object in a conventional way and thus rendering it. In her work she lets the materials do their work: the enamel paint drips onto the canvas and the erratic course determines the composition on the canvas. The spots on her work seem to float on the canvas and suggest space.
In-young Kim tries to avoid a conventional point of view by first taking apart familiar subjects and then reassembling them later. Her work does not aim to tell a story based on the depicted subjects, but rather to evoke feelings in the viewer.
