Michael Berkhemer (Wageningen, 1948)
The artist about his work: "My work has its origins in the tradition of purity and austerity, which have been so characteristic of Dutch painting throughout the centuries. At the same time, I feel a connection with the tradition of modernism. I use a wide variety of techniques and many different materials and within that I strive to find a balance between form and color, reason and emotion. Nature is an important source of inspiration for me. Without trying to imitate her, I am looking for a way to represent nature in all her appearance. "
Berkhemer studied at the Arnhem Art Academy. His work is exhibited both solo and in groups all over the world, from Amersfoort to Dubai and St Louis in the United States.
