Alberto Casari (Lima, Ecuador, 1955)
Alberto Casari lived in Italy for 17 years before returning to his country of birth, Peru. When his work was presented at the Venice Biennale, he became increasingly amazed at its strange status as an "artist". It's kind of an honorary title and especially when the artist is successful, he is often seen as some kind of rock & roll star.
Casari has created a corporation called PPPP (Productos Peruanos Para Pensar, Peruvian products to think about). Under the wings of this self-invented organization, he makes things that can be hung on the wall or placed on the floor. He often does it together with the Indian population. These screen prints are studies for tapestries that he made later.
